What is MMBtu?

MMBtu stands for one million British Thermal Units, the standard unit for pricing natural gas. It represents the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one million pounds of water by one degree Fahrenheit.

Natural Gas Conversions:

  • • 1 MMBtu ≈ 1,000 cubic feet of natural gas
  • • 1 MMBtu = 1,000,000 BTU
  • • 1 MMBtu ≈ 293 kWh
  • • 1 MMBtu ≈ 1.055 GJ (gigajoules)
  • • 1 therm = 0.1 MMBtu
