Can I redistribute OilPriceAPI data?
Start here: we grant nothing. OilPriceAPI is a collection and delivery service. We hold no licence from any upstream source, so we are not in a position to authorize, permit, or forbid what anyone does with the underlying facts — at any plan tier, for any fee. Nothing on this page is a grant of rights, because we have none to give. What this page does is tell you where each series comes from, so you can work out where you stand.
Government data — public domain at the source
Our EIA-sourced series come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Works of the U.S. Government are in the public domain. That status comes from the source — it is not a permission we issue, and it is not ours to issue. The practical upshot is that no permission from us is involved either way, and none is needed from us. Credit the source: Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The public-domain set:
- Retail diesel — national, PADD regions, and per-state:

Third-party-sourced data — internal use only
Data we collect from third-party sources is for your internal use only. We hold no redistribution or public-display rights in it and cannot convey any — no agreement with us, at any plan tier, can authorize you to redistribute or publicly display it:
- LBMA gold & silver fixings
- WTI / Brent futures
- ICE / EU carbon
If you need those rights, you need an agreement with the upstream publisher. OilPriceAPI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a licensed distributor of any exchange or price-reporting agency.
Attribution
A visible "Source: U.S. EIA" credit near where the data is displayed satisfies the attribution requirement for the government-sourced series above.
