Kenya, South Africa, and Nigeria petrol prices from official regulators

EPRA, DMRE, and NBS data — updated monthly

Africa Petrol Prices by Country

African fuel prices are set by government regulatory bodies on monthly cycles. These countries represent Africa's three largest economies (Nigeria, South Africa) and the major East Africa hub (Kenya).

Africa Fuel Pricing Overview

Kenya

EPRA reviews prices monthly accounting for crude costs, exchange rates, and taxes. Nairobi serves as the national reference price. Three products: Super Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene.

South Africa

DMRE uses a detailed formula linking prices to the Mediterranean crude marker, Rand/USD exchange rate, and levies. New prices announced first Wednesday of each month.

Nigeria

After subsidy removal in 2023, PMS prices surged. Dangote Refinery (1.4M bbl/day) started 2024 and may reduce import dependence and stabilize prices.
