Granite Wash

Granite Wash describes a package of tight sandstones and conglomeratic reservoirs along the western Anadarko Basin, particularly in the Texas Panhandle and western Oklahoma. The interval is not a uniform blanket shale: depositional changes create multiple stacked targets with different rock quality, pressure and fluid mix. County and formation naming are therefore central to play-level analysis.

Because the play crosses a state line and sits within a larger basin, neither Oklahoma nor Texas totals isolate Granite Wash activity. EIA does not publish a current play-specific production series. The page keeps that limitation explicit rather than assigning a state number, national rig count or Anadarko-wide value to Granite Wash wells.
