EIA does not publish a current San Juan Basin production series. New Mexico totals are intentionally not used as a proxy.

Understanding San Juan Basin
The San Juan Basin occupies the Four Corners region, centered in northwestern New Mexico and southwestern Colorado. Its producing section includes the Fruitland coal, Pictured Cliffs, Mesaverde, Mancos and Dakota intervals. Coalbed methane development is a defining part of the basin’s history, while conventional and unconventional sandstone and shale targets add a varied production profile.
Mature infrastructure and a large legacy-well population distinguish the San Juan from newer horizontal shale plays. EIA does not publish a current San Juan-specific STEO production series, and New Mexico totals would include substantial Permian output outside this basin. The page therefore keeps production absent while preserving the formation and geographic distinctions needed for well-level research.
